Gear guides

Honest, hands-on reviews of the gear we'd actually put in our own homes. Every guide is structured the same way: the picks, the comparison table, and the "what to look for" so you can make a confident call without reading three thousand more words.

How we make money: These guides include affiliate links. When you click through and buy, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you. That's it. No sponsored picks, no paid placements. Full disclosure →

How we test

Every product in a gear guide goes through a three-filter review:

  1. Would we put it in our own home?
  2. Is it the right fit for a typical family — not the biggest or fanciest?
  3. Does the price-to-usefulness ratio hold up?

We don't accept paid placements, don't review unsolicited product samples, and update our picks when better options launch or older ones lose their edge. Full editorial policy →
