Storage basics that save you from redoing it

  • Use food-grade containers only. Never reuse milk jugs — protein residue grows bacteria.
  • Store away from direct sunlight and gasoline/paint fumes. Plastic is semi-permeable over years.
  • Treat fresh tap water with 2 drops of unscented bleach per gallon if your container won't be rotated in 6 months.
  • Label each container with the fill date.
